Michael Yichao is a writer, actor, and artist based in Seattle, WA.
I'm a narrative designer, screenwriter, digital copywriter, and playwright. I have led narrative designs for two major theme park projects in China, served as a staff writer for a Chinese sitcom set in LA, and have received recognition from the Kennedy Center and the O'Neill Theater's National Playwriting Conference, among others. I'm an improviser and comedian with a focus on improv, voiceover and film. I frequently tour and travel with my troupe, Tall Grande Venti, teaching and performing at festivals and theaters across the country. I also am a company member of Jet City Improv in Seattle and Jester'Z Improv in Phoenix. I received an MFA in Acting from California Institute of the Arts.
I have had the pleasure to produce, develop and devise different performance pieces with a variety of companies. I also have worked as a teaching artist for many different organizations, teaching improv, acting, music, and theater in classroom, workshop, private lesson and master class settings. Credits include:
